Ok so I admit it I was obsessed about having the most high end products when I was pregnant with my daughter but isn’t every first time mum? The perfect nursery that you see on Pinterest or IG was my goal, I even ordered a £70 handmade letter A coated in pink and white fake flowers to go above her crib (complete waste of money btw).
We all love to have the finer things in life we would be lying if we said we didn’t, however if any of you reading this are like me and barely have enough money to run my car each week then we know for a fact we’re not gonna be able to afford a £250 designer changing bag even though it comes with a detachable pouch it’s a bag thats going to hold breast milk, vomit rags and sh***y nappy’s let’s be realistic. Pushchair’s are literally the most competitive baby/toddler product out there and baby group mums are the worst for this “I’ve got the brand new bugaboo and it comes with a cup holder and hand warmers” this is great if you have the money but honestly your child isn’t gonna know the difference between a £1000 icandy or £10 wheelbarrow with a few pillows stuffed inside so I wouldn't kick yourself about it. (I’ve never put my child in a wheelbarrow just to be clear).
Breast milk or formula is a big topic, some people think breast is best which is completely fine if that’s your opinion, however stop making us Mother’s or Father’s feel bad for using formula! As long at the baby is getting the right amount of milk, nutrition and care does it really matter? This also applies with homemade baby food it can work out cheaper and a great way of saving money but lets get real after blending, steaming, freezing and eventually thawing out and feeding it’s a lot of washing up, time and effort to add to the list that some of us parents just don’t have. Go out a buy the jars if that’s better for you don’t let yourself be belittled.
Being a happy, loving and positive parent is all that your child needs. Just be you that’s who they fell in love with!
